Why your quick fix will never work

I’m sure you’ve been there many times; you’re frustrated with your ability to lose weight and you want results NOW – well, actually, yesterday, but you’ll settle for now.

Then someone comes across your path – maybe you bump into them, or you see something pop up on the internet or Facebook, or you see it on TV. It’s someone who’s recently lost a tonne of weight by following some new plan or program, or by taking some new supplement, or shake. And it’s only taken them the tiniest amount of time to do it.

“That’s it!” you say, and you feel the excitement start to build. “That’s the thing that’s going to get me where I want to go. It’s going to finally help me shed this excess weight and give me the body I want!”

The possibilities are running through your mind – everything that you’ve been putting off, is now so close.

You can’t wait to get your hands on that plan or product and get into it. You whip out your wallet, purchase it online and wait impatiently for the day it is delivered into your anxious little hands.

Then, finally, it arrives, and you dive straight in, vowing to do it perfectly, and excited to start seeing your results. You don’t have to wait too long – things are starting to shift and you’re feeling really good – if it keeps going like this, you’ll be where you want to be in no time at all!

“Yes!” you think to yourself. “Finally! I’m so happy!”

But fast forward a few weeks or months, or even years, and you’re back where you started from, maybe even worse off. One more failure to add to your already sizeable collection

You know why too – it’s because you lack willpower, commitment and motivation….. Or is it?

Maybe there’s some other thing at play here. Maybe it’s not that there is something wrong with you…..

Why you haven’t gotten what you want yet

Have you ever wanted something so bad, you can taste it, you can see it, you can feeeeeeel it. You set about going about making it happen – you tell others, maybe make some enquiries, google a few things, take some action….. but for some reason, you just haven’t gotten what you want yet.

And it’s driving you crazy! You don’t understand, I mean, what else can you do? Why hasn’t it happened already? Why is it so hard for you? Why does it feel like you take 3 steps forward, and 5 steps back. Why does everyone else seem to have it so easy?

You’ve been set you up to fail

Have you ever wondered why, with all the weight loss programs, exercise plans, diets and quick fixes available, we still struggle with our weight and our bodies?

We either can’t lose our excess weight, or we can’t keep it off once we have lost. We can’t stick to our meal plans, or, if we do, we end up binge eating late at night. Or hiding in the closet. Or the car, so no one will see how disgusting we are.

Maybe you’re not carrying excess weight. Maybe you’re one of those women with an enviable figure, but you just can’t get on top of your eating. And no one would understand because they all think you look amazing, and so you must be perfect with your food, but it’s killing you because you cannot stop and you hate yourself for being such a glutton, and so weak.

Don’t you think, with all the programs that are available, if any of them actually worked, long term, there would be no need for any new programs? If just one of them worked, there’d be no others, because everyone would just be doing the one that worked. And yet you keep going back, hoping the next one will be different. That you’ll be different.

These conventional plans don’t and can’t work long term, because they miss the most vital piece.

The piece that determines whether you will succeed at your goal, or whether you fail. And with this piece missing, you are guaranteed to fail, to repeat the same patterns, over and over and over. 

You lack an understanding of how your unconscious mind works, and how it’s your limiting beliefs, decisions and negative emotional ties to the past that are tripping you up, and will continue to trip you up. These babies run the show. YOUR show.

You are missing the knowledge of how these, and your current life choices, negatively affect your body’s physiology, chemistry, hormones, digestive system, immune system and your metabolism.

You don’t fully understand how stress and the hectic, crazy, too-busy life you are living shuts down your metabolism, and all the major systems of your body, making it near impossible to lose any weight.

You are completely disconnected from your body, missing the many signals she is giving you every moment of what she needs to come back into balance, to full, vibrant health. You think she is something you can beat into submission, that she must do everything you say, but she’s just not going along with your demands (and she’s never going to whilst you treat her like this).

You mistakenly think, in order to have what you want, you have to deprive, restrict and punish yourself, not realising that all these guarantee your weight loss failure.

You are so confused, overwhelmed and worn out, you don’t know what’s good for you any more, and you have no idea of what you need, or what you need to do.

I get it. I’ve been there and it sucks. It’s a mine field of misinformation, conflicting opinions and incomplete programs. One expert says one thing. Another directly contradicts them. And yet another directly contradicts both of them. It’s enough to make you throw your hands on the air and say “F**k it. I give up. It’s too hard” and settle in for a life of sub-par health, happiness and vitality.


But it doesn’t have to be that way.


Imagine actually understanding your body, how she works, how she speaks to you, what she needs to come back into balance.

Imagine being able to give her all of that, easily, and feeling amazing because you are looking after her, looking after yourself, nourishing yourself, loving yourself, appreciating yourself.

Imagine not having to follow a rigid diet plan, or count calories, as you intrinsically know how foods affect you, and therefore you easily make the right food choices.

Imagine not having to listen to any experts, because you are connected to the expert that lives within you.

Imagine actually knowing how to nourish yourself, how to give yourself pleasure, and how to feed your body, your heart and your soul.

Imagine knowing how to eat in a way that boosts your metabolism and ignites your digestive fire.

Imagine finally being free of this fight – the constant war between you, your body, your mind and your food.


This is possible. I’ve done it. I’ve seen it with my clients. I want it for you.

The Health Practise That is Perfect For You

I used to be SO rigid when it came to health…..yeah, ok, everything…. and learning to let go of this rigidity has expanded my health, and my entire life, in many ways.

My Best Meal Tip For Health, Weight Loss, Energy and Vitality

I know you are either on your journey to being the healthiest, leanest, sexiest version of yourself, or you are wanting to start your health and weight loss journey.

You read up on the best ways to eat and to move your body for weight loss and you implement what you learn. You drink 2L of water every day, you eat your veggies and avoid (as much as possible) junk food, and foods you’ve been told are detrimental to your weight loss and health goals.

And this gets you so far. You initially notice a difference in how you feel, maybe you have a little more energy, and you lose a little weight.

But inevitably, you get to a point where all this information about what to eat, and how to move your body seems to stop working. And you don’t understand what went wrong, so you go looking for the next expert to tell you all about the “next big thing”, and so the cycle starts, and so it continues.

Mainstream health and weight loss information focuses so much on what we should be eating, but the fact that we know this, and we follow this, and we still have issues losing, or maintaining weight, shows us that there is something missing.

I was recently interviewed and asked the question “What is your best meal choice tip?”, and I think my answer might surprise you. I believe, it is one of the missing pieces in weight loss and health knowledge, and I wanted to share it with you, because it is so easy, doesn’t cost anything, and will have a dramatic positive effect on your digestion, your metabolism, your weight, your energy and your vitality. But, there’s a catch – you have to bother to actually do it!

Valentines Day


Whether you subscribe to it or not, Valentines Day often leaves many women (and no doubt men too) feeling rather shit about themselves.

It’s so easy to fall into the trap of criticising yourself and blaming the way you look for not having someone who loves you, or for not being “lovable”. This is kind of funny, actually, as this day that is about love, has many women feeling nothing but hatred, shame, criticism, judgement, doubt and fear towards themselves and towards their bodies.

Except if that’s you. Then it’s not funny, but rather painful, lonely and isolating.

We have been taught to relate our self worth, and our value as a human, and as a woman, to how we look. If we look good, if our bodies are “perfect”, then we are worthy, and deserving of love, happiness, joy, success and all the good things. If we are less than perfect, if our thighs jiggle, and our bellies wiggle, if we have stretch marks or cellulite (or heaven forbid, both!) then we are unworthy, undeserving and unlovable. I mean, really, who is going to love you with all those imperfections and lumps and bumps?

And so, you ramp up that life sucking spiral of restriction, deprivation, punishment and hard work, making an unconscious pact with yourself to hate yourself and basically be the worlds biggest bitch to yourself, until you are perfect. Until you lose that extra weight. Until you get rid of your cellulite. Until you look like Giselle, or Beyonce, or whomever that is for you. (For me, it was Pink, and man did I give her a run for her money! But you know what? After years of busting my butt and achieving an awesome body, I still hated the way I looked and I was still single! WTF?!? Clearly there was something missing in this equation.)

This reasoning – trying to perfect the outside, so we feel good on the inside – is so flawed and so outdated!

It’s not a matter of HAVING an awesome body, so we can DO all the things we’ve been putting off, and we can BE lovable, attractive, happy, successful, fun, social, adventurous.

It’s about learning to love the here and now, whatever you look like, however much you weigh and however much you ate at lunch.

It’s learning to BE the type of person who is lovable (by loving yourself, by showing yourself compassion, by being kind to yourself, by having fun with yourself, by putting your needs, your desires and your health first. You can only be loved by others to the extent you can love yourself), and DOING the things that will support your desire for a healthy, vibrant, juicy life (eating the right foods for you, having daily practices of honouring and appreciating your body, connecting to something bigger than you, connecting with the earth, moving your body in ways that feel good, taking yourself on fun adventures with beautiful friends, getting your gorgeous butt out of your lounge room and out into the world).

When you can consistently piece these two together, you have set the stage for you to HAVE those things you want – the sexy body, the vibrant health, the abundant energy, the delicious man, the amazing sex, the awesome friendships and the fun, full social life…and all the rest of it!

It’s not easy to just shift this perspective; to just decide to wake up tomorrow and think “How I look doesn’t define me as a person” when that’s the only thing you’ve been defining yourself by for so long, but it IS possible (and woman! Is it worth it!). I know, I did it, and it took lots of work, lots of help, support, guidance, nurturing, love, patience and the RIGHT information. (The good news here is; I’ve done all the leg work for you!)

We Live In Moments


Today I want to share an idea with you that my first coach taught me.

We live in moments

How often have you written off a whole entire day, week, month, or even year, because you’ve acted in some way that isn’t in alignment with where you want to be?

Maybe you ate something off your plan, and so you thought I’ll start again tomorrow, or on Monday.

Maybe you’ve been procrastinating on a project all morning, so you take the afternoon off work, and spend the whole time playing on Facebook, or catching up on personal admin.

Maybe you woke up in a bad mood, or something happened early in your day that put you in a bad mood, so you decide to let it ruin your whole day, and you proceed to be an absolute bitch, or negative nelly, to anyone and anything you come across. You waste your whole day, then go to bed, hoping that when you wake up tomorrow things will be different.

We’ve all been there. Me, more often than I’d like to admit.

We have this idea that our life is made up of hours, days, weeks, months or years, so when something happens we don’t like, we unconsciously decide that one thing has to affect us for that entire time period.

We’ve got it so wrong

We live in moments. Not hours. Not days. Not longer. Moments. Your life is made up of these tiny moments, one after the other, and they are what forms the shape of your hour, your day, your week, month and year. Your lifetime.

Understanding that you live in moments, gives you freedom and immense power. No matter what happens, in the very next moment, you can choose a different scenario. If this moment is shitty, change something, anything, so your next moment is better. Made a poor decision? No problem. Simply choose something different, right now. Acted in a way you aren’t proud of? Act differently in the next moment.

With immense power, comes immense responsibility

Knowing that you live in moments enables you to constantly improve your reality, but it all comes down to choice. It’s recognising you have the power to choose. It’s taking full responsibility for your experience. It’s deciding to not wallow in a poor decision, that either you made, or that was made for you. It’s deciding to always choose something better.

You can choose to allow one moment to dictate the next, and the next and the next. You can allow one moment to mean a shitty day, week, month or year. Or you can choose to turn that around. Right now. In this moment.

Spring Revitalization Cleanse


Spring, the time of renewal and rebirth is the perfect time to complete a gentle, nourishing cleanse.

Winter sees us head indoors, and stay indoors; we rug up and hide under layers of winter woolies. Our body’s needs change and we find ourselves turning to heavier, more dense meals to ground us and insulate us as the days get colder. Winter is the time for deep rest; just like bears hibernate, we too turn inwards, our energy drops and we slow down. We need this time to allow our bodies, and our spirits, to rest and rebuild their strength and their energy.

As spring rolls around, our energy starts to lift, and we get the urge to shake off the heaviness of the past winter, in preparation for the aliveness of summer. Undertaking a cleanse at this time helps to support this process on an energetic level. It’s like an old house that has been shut up for the winter. Once the spring tenants move in, they’ll fling open the doors and windows and get to work clearing out all the gunk that’s crept in and settled over the colder months. Once that clearing is complete, the house feels new again; ready for the fun of the next 6 months.

Spring cleansing helps you leave winter in the past, and prepares you for the light, the excitement, the fun and the joy of summer. You know the feeling you get when you have the first hot day of the season – that Oh shit, I’m going to be in a bikini real soon! feeling. This is the last thing you want to do at this time, due to the heavy, sludge-like energy that builds up over winter! A cleanse now can help banish that feeling; it will take a load off your body, and allow your systems and organs time and space to refresh and replenish. This in turn means energy will flow more easily through you, your digestion improves, your metabolism forces up, your eyes sparkle and you feel just gosh-darn amazing!

My Favourite Homemade Body Scrubs


My Favourite Homemade Body Scrubs

I love getting in the shower and buffing my skin with a natural, homemade body scrub, so today I wanted to share 2 of my favourite recipes with you.

Spring is well and truly upon us here in Sydney; we’ve had some absolutely glorious beach days, and using these scrubs ensures my skin is sun ready and delicious. I swear they help me tan better too!

So here they are; my 2 favourite body scrubs. I hope you’ll use them and love them as much as I do!

Simple Sugar Scrub

  • 1/2 cup sugar (white or brown)
  • 1/2 cup oil (olive oil/coconut oil)
  • Your fave essential oils (start with 3-6 drops and add more from there

Coffee and Coconut Scrub

  • 1 C Ground Coffee
  • 1 C Sugar or Salt
  • 1/2 – 1 C Organic Coconut Oil (melted)

Why coffee? Coffee is fabulous for increasing circulation, can help reduce the appearance of cellulite, and does wonders for mental alertness

No need to buy the coffee – I get mine from my local cafe – they simply keep their old grinds from the day, and give them to me instead of throwing them out! Ask if yours will do the same for you, or, if you have your own coffee machine, just use the grinds once you’ve done making your morning brew.

For both recipes, simply mix all the ingredients together and store in an airtight container.

There’s no rues when it comes to making your own body scrubs. Now you have the basic idea, play around with any ingredients you like, and see what you come up with. I’d love to hear about your creations, so please share them in the comments below.
